There’s a lot to be excited about with this weekend’s Super Bowl, including fierce competition between the Pats and the Rams, a strong halftime lineup featuring Maroon 5, and, of course, the delicious food we’ll be eating throughout the game.
The Local Moms Network contributor Kate Bower of Domestikated Life says her best tip for Sunday is to pace your snacks: “It’s a long game and if you set everything out before kick-off, things are going to get cold and picked over. I like to save a few of my snacks to bring out at half time when people are ready to hop off the couch and replenish their plates.”
While food (and football of course) is the main event at any Super Bowl gathering, every great party can use a signature cocktail, like these easy root beer floats with a caramel twist. “My favorite part about them is that they’re a hit with kids who might be staying up late to watch the game, and can be spiked for adults who want a grown-up version!” says Kate, whose simple decorating of plastic stemless wineglasses makes them Insta-worthy. Cheers to the big game!
Game Day Root Beer Floats from Domestikated Life
4 scoops vanilla ice cream
4 8 ounce cups root beer
Bourbon cream liquor (optional; Kate uses Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream Liquor)
- Use white paint or trimmed pieces of white washi tape to decorate plastic stemless wine glasses.
- Fill each glass three-quarters of the way full with chilled root beer and top with one large scoop of ice cream.
- If grownups want, stir in ½ ounce of Bourbon cream liquor; drizzle caramel sauce on top to finish. Enjoy!
