Give Back in 2019 with Charity Water

There’s one thing that all moms have in common – we want what’s best for our children.  For those of us here in the United States, we have the luxury of debating what that means.  It may not feel like a luxury when you’re trying to decide on childcare, school or summer camp, what to do about your colicky infant who won’t nurse, whether or not you should flip your car seat to forward facing, or how best to approach the parents of a child who is making your kid miserable, but there’s another perspective.  You can worry about those things because you are lucky.  You already have the basics covered.  For most of us, food, clothing, and shelter aren’t our top concerns.

We as Americans are pretty lucky.  Water is seen as a right, something we all should have access to.  We were justifiably outraged when the city of Flynt, Michigan created a lead catastrophe with their municipal water source.  Constant exposure to lead contaminated water sounds like a parent’s worst nightmare, but these moms are still significantly better off than the 663 million people (1 in 10 worldwide) without access to clean water.

Compounding this problem, the burden of water collection often falls to the women, and many walk 2-4 hours a day to swamps and rivers to gather dirty water for their families. How can you focus on anything else if you’re tasked with hauling water for your family every day?  The answer is obvious.  You can’t.  Access to clean water is the gateway to education, income, and health.

Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

Ask yourself earnestly - if you could help these women, these moms just like you who want what's best for their children, would you?  South Wake Raleigh Moms, show us your generosity & help us raise money for Charity : Water, an organization dedicated to making clean water accessible to everyone.  100% of your donation goes directly to their cause, and they prove it.  If you do nothing else, take 20 minutes and watch Scott Harrison's video introducing The Spring above.  You will not regret it - everyone deserves to be a little inspired to start a new year, and if you take the time to watch this, you will be.

We set a pretty lofty goal for ourselves for this fundraiser and we need your help to meet it.  Help us raise $10,000 for clean water.  Let's show Charity : Water what thousands of moms can do together!
