Dec 31, 2018 | Meet A Mom
Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
I started my life journey in Pennsylvania and made pitstops in Texas, Louisiana, California and have finally settled in North Carolina. We have been in the area for about 5 years now.
Children and Ages?
We have one daughter who is 19 and she is loving her sophomore year at UNC Asheville.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I have had two books published and my second book is still available through Amazon and Barnes and Noble! My published book is 12 Healthy Habits of Business Leadership. Each chapter provides insight, stimulating questions, encouraging solutions, and an empowering accountability section.
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
My husband. Lol!!! He somehow thought that I instantly had all information about being a parent downloaded into my brain the day our daughter arrived. And through the years we have learned to solve many interesting, scary, and wonky problems together. I could not survive this journey without him and am truly thankful for him every day.
Favorite things to do with your kids?
I love going with our daughter to art museums, arboretums, movie theaters, and road trips! My favorite place to visit in Raleigh is A Place at the Table.
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world?
I have been a serial entrepreneur since 2001 and currently own Oak City Marketing Agency in Raleigh. I am a digital marketing nut and I love working with entrepreneurs and organizations. I founded Oak City Marketing Agency, LLC in July 2018 after completing my degree at NC State. Through my company I have created a program with my husband called Startup Plan-It. Our mission is to work encourage and empower 1,000 entrepreneurs in 2019. The first five years in business are critical to the business’ survival and we want to share everything we have learned from the past 17 years as entrepreneurs and business leaders.
What does this community mean to you/How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
My community means the world to me. They have encouraged me to believe in myself and to believe that we can make a difference.
