Meet Dani Loveless | South Wake Raleigh Moms

Jul 1, 2019 | Meet A Mom

We are thrilled to feature local Raleigh mom, Dani Loveless. Dani is a mother of twin girls and business owner of her cookie company, Double Batch Baking. I mean, check out these gorgeous cookies! They are literally works of art. Check out our interview with her and be sure to visit her on social media (links below)!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?

I am originally from Rhode Island and lived there until I was 20 before moving down South ( I went to Clemson University for undergrad. Go Tigers!). My husband and I moved to the Triangle in 2016 and have lived in Cary for about 2 years. He is originally from NC and went to NC State so was happy to be back in this area!

Children and Ages?

I have 1.5 year old twin girls (Grayson & Addison). Twins do not run in our families, so we were shocked when we found out we were having two!

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I am not artistic!! My brother is an incredibly talented artist and craftsman (check him out @mightytreewoodworks) but I never got those genes! I would describe myself as crafty at best. I can’t draw/paint to save my life, but for some reason I can frost a pretty good looking cookie 🙂

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?

Oh gosh, so many people to thank! I never understood the saying “it takes a village” until I had twins. We have so much support from family even though they live 2+ hours away. I am also very lucky to have many close friends who were having kids around the same time so we have all navigated this new parenting thing together. Lastly, I could not have survived twins without my twin mama friends who understand the challenge of two at a time! The Triangle Parents of Multiple Club here in town is so supportive and kind!

Favorite things to do with your kids?

Parks and playgrounds! We are so fortunate to live in an area with some of the best parks in the country! We can walk to 2-3 different parks and playgrounds from our house and we love exploring new ones weekly with our friends. One of our favorites is Marla Dorrel Park in Cary because it has such a nice area for the littler kids. I can’t wait to try some of the parks with splash pads this summer!

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world?

After my twins were born, I left my job in municipal government to stay home with them. I have always been a baker but fell into custom decorated sugar cookies after making some for my girls’ first birthday party. I was hooked! I started getting requests from friends and family for cookies so decided to open Double Batch Baking (can you guess where the name came from?). I specialize in custom sugar cookies but have plans to add other treats for special occasions soon! Check us out on social media – Instagram and Facebook.

What does this community mean to you/How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

The community has been such an integral part of helping me get my small business up and running and I am so thankful for the kindness I have experienced! There are so many local bakers who have been open to sharing their story about getting started, local businesses that are willing to partner and share my work, mom groups that offer advice about owning a business while staying at home with kids…. the list keeps going! I feel grateful to be part of a community that values and supports its small business owners.
