Meet Jana Ullrich | South Wake Raleigh Moms

Aug 26, 2019 | Meet A Mom

We’re excited to feature our latest Raleigh mom, Jana Ullrich. Jana is a mompreneur and owner of multiple businesses, living out her passions and creating beautiful works of art. She inspires us with the way she manages to juggle it all. Get to know her and check out her gorgeous creations.

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?

I was born and lived in Maryland until I was 12. At that point we moved to Wake Forest. I’ve moved around North Carolina from the mountains to the eastern side of the state, but my husband and I have chosen to settle down in Raleigh to raise our children and pursue entrepreneurship.

Children and Ages?

My husband and I have two children. Our daughter Saoirse {pronounced Sir-Sha} is now 5 and will be starting Kindergarten in the fall. Our son Asher will be 4 this month and will do one more year of preschool before starting Kindergarten.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I love kickboxing! And it’s something that I’m really interested in pursuing in my fitness journey!

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?

My mom was always an amazing role model for me in the way she parented. I was homeschooled until sixth grade, and I realize now how much freedom I was given to create and use my imagination. That’s something that I want for my children, and I think it’s essential in problem solving and self-care as an adult. My mom still to this day is someone I can turn to without judgement, and who helps ground me when I start feeling overwhelmed with being a mother.

Favorite things to do with your kids?

Our absolute favorite thing to do together is get outside. I can notice a complete change in energy when we take our activities outside—like reading, painting, listening to music, or just noticing something interesting around us in nature. It’s therapeutic for us as adults, and I really believe the same for children.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!

I have a floral design business called The Lost Garden. I’m a small studio florist with garden style designs that focuses mainly on intimate weddings/elopements, flower crowns, and workshops. I also have a monthly delivered bouquet subscription. You can visit my website to subscribe and follow us on Instagram and Facebook to see upcoming workshops!

I also do hand painted “Wallpaper” Murals and watercolor paintings through my artist’s page The Copper and Canvas Shop. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook.

You could say I love creating with color 😉

What does this community mean to you/How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

I feel so fortunate to be a part of the Raleigh community. Most of my business {flowers or painting} comes from word of mouth and repeat customers, and I’m thankful that there are people willing to support local businesses. I’ve also met moms that have become such wonderful friendships for myself and my little ones. We feel so lucky to be surrounded by beauty from the inside out.
