We are honored to feature Kristin Pridgen this week! Kristin is the owner of Earth Kissed Beauty, creating handmade skincare products with only the best natural ingredients. Her line of products includes items for mama and baby – who doesn’t love shea butter and body creams! While running her business, she is also raising her sweet son, A’mare. We loved hearing her story and know you will too.
Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
I’m originally from the Triangle: born in Garner, raised in Wendell. After college, I lived in New Jersey for a few years and returned to Garner in 2016. I love how the town is growing but still has that small town feel and a large sense of community.
Children and Ages?
My son, A’mare, will be a year old next week! He is my rainbow baby (a child born after a previous miscarriage or infant loss) and is my daily reminder to trust in God’s timing and plan.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I love listening to music and dancing, but I absolutely hate Soul Train lines! I have a strong aversion to people staring at me, and that’s all that they do when there’s a Soul Train line. Just know if we’re at a party and the line forms, I’ll be doing my two-step on the sideline!
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
I love my village! They have been so supportive of my transition into this pregnancy and parenthood. My hubby, Earl, has been with me every step of the way; he is such a great encourager and my help mate. My mom and mother-in-love are super helpful with caring for our son and providing great nuggets of maternal wisdom. Our village is huge and willing to help whenever asked. Without going into names, I would like to extend my thanks to those who have and continue to assist me and my family throughout parenthood.
Favorite things to do with your son?
We’re now at the exploring phase; every minute detail amazes A’mare. He is so observant and enjoys discovering new things. I love watching him soak in his surroundings and acquire new skills, such as basic American Sign Language. I also enjoy singing to him and reading him books.
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world?
Yes, I own a business. Earth-Kissed Beauty was founded to provide clean, safe skincare products for individuals embracing a holistic healthy lifestyle. Each product is handmade in small batches and is free of harsh, toxic chemicals, synthetic fragrances, or preservatives. All ingredients are earth-based and specially blended to provide high quality skincare products that truly nourish the skin.
I also blog about my holistic health journey at www.allofkp.com. From my public health background and experiencing severe grief, I determined I had to adjust my way of living to rediscover joy. I had to learn how to embrace all of me, holistically. It’s still a work in progress, but I enjoy sharing that journey with others, as a reminder to embrace self-love and acceptance.
