Mar 11, 2019 | Meet-A-Mom
We absolutely love getting the chance to highlight local moms, mompreneurs, and all of the mom bosses in the Raleigh area each month! Laura Gerenser is a mom to two beautiful daughters and runs her own business, Adventures in Bloom. It was a pleasure to interview her and learn about her passion and desire to create community.
Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
Originally from Syracuse NY- Moved here in early 2012 and will NEVER go back! My husband and I had both our children here – 2 little southern belles!
Children and Ages?
Madeline -5 Starts kindergarten this fall
Annabelle -3 enjoying Grow Preschool in Downtown Apex!
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
That I used to be a ski instructor.
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
My mom and my friend Michelle (of Kitchen Table Cakes). Her kids are a good 10 years older than mine and I loved hearing the voice of reason on the “other side” of diapers and preschool.
Favorite things to do with your kids?
Any craft, watercoloring, painting, colors- you name it!
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world?
I own Adventures in Bloom. We host Hammer-It-Yourself Metal Stamping Parties and team building events. Custom metal stamped pieces are also available in our studio inside That’s Too Cute Boutique at 312 W Chatham St in Downtown Cary. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and check out our Etsy shop.
What does this community mean to you/How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
I started this business as a way to enjoy crafting and talk to grown ups. It has now turned into a full time job that allows me to not have to ever go back to work for someone else. I was always just looking for people to talk to and share this experience of motherhood with. I now try to create a community around my studio and my stamping classes. My hope is that you leave with a piece of jewelry you made yourself AND a new friend you met while enjoying a new experience!
