Meet Rachel Atkin

We are thrilled to feature our latest local mama, Rachel Atkin. Rachel is a mother of 4 and keeps busy helping her husband run Family Focus Chiropractic in Holly Springs and two other business ventures. We would love to bottle up her energy! We so appreciate hearing Rachel’s story and know you will too.

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?

I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, but moved to the South when my husband was going to Chiropractic School.  We fell in love with the South, and when we drove through Holly Springs, we knew it was our new home. We’ve been here for almost 5 years, and have loved every minute of it!

Children and Ages?

I have four children—11, 9, (almost) 7, and 3.  They are the best!

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I had to ask my friends about this one, and they agreed that they were surprised to find out that I was an actress, and that I was pretty good (their words!!!)!  I was in the production of “Finding Patience: the Story of Holly Springs” last year, and hope to be able to do more community theater in the future, once my life doesn’t revolve around young kids ☺  I’m sure there are lots of other things, but they don’t surprise me anymore, so I can’t think of anything else.

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?

All of the other mamas—it sounds ridiculous, but I rely so much on my friends, sisters, mom, etc. for support, insight, encouragement, and suggestions.  I think Motherhood is such a team effort, and I love being able to be a cheerleader for others, just as others have been for me! And, of course, a special thanks to my husband for being my sounding board for everything from family to business and beyond.

Favorite things to do with your kids?

We love to go swimming during the summer—the pool is by far our happy place.  But on days we can’t go swimming, or when we’re being lazy, I totally love having epic MarioKart races on our trusty old Game Cube!  (technology is not our strong suit…)

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? 

I have my hand in at least three different businesses right now—Family Focus Chiropractic is our 5th baby, and reason we’re here in Holly Springs.  I do everything from occasional front desk duty and administration to balloon animal tying at the Holly Springs Farmer’s Market and other festivals around town!  Lean Body Solutions is our second “official” business, where I do marketing and advertising, and my hobby business is You+I (@youandicreate2gether), where I do custom handlettering and other commissioned art projects.  I love working with my clients through every step so that they get exactly what they want. I love this way of doing things because I get to make these orders FOR people instead of having people just buy what I’ve already done (they’re made with love.  Also, I don’t have to make any decisions this way haha).

What does this community mean to you/How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

Y’all are my family.  I love being a part of this community—knowing who I’m serving and being able to make a difference in your lives.  I was telling my husband the other day that even after 5 years of being here, I still feel like I’m in the honeymoon phase because Holly Springs is truly the perfect place for my family and me!
